I just stumbled upon an old thread at ReefCentral about a member tried to use ginger (luya sa atin) in combating marine ich (cryptocaryon irritans). The kind of surprising on my part is that, it only took him just one feeding, and the next day the ich's gone. Has anyone read the thread?
Or better yet, has anyone tried this before?



Hmmn... pagkatapos ng bawang, luya naman. Ano kaya susunod, paminta na o kaya sili? Ops, joke lang po ha.

Under "Parasitic infection" section.
"Ginger contains a chemical called zingibain that dissolves parasites and their eggs. In laboratory trials, ginger extracts have been shown to kill the anisakid worm (a parasite occasionally found in raw fish) within sixteen hours. Ginger tea is useful as a supplement in treating schistosomiasis, a parasitic disease."

I think there's only one type of marine ich that I know of, unless you're talking about the freshwater specie.

And I think no RP member has ever tried the ginger route yet to combat ich. I haven't either.

Pigain ang juice, ilagay sa maliit na lalagyan. Lagyan ng tubig ang garlic para madaling pigain. Ihalo sa food.

My tank had ich. I just let it be. Feed with food with garlic. Keep the water conditions optimal. It went away by itself or the fish got immune.

i have read that thread dati and its made a huge issue at RC. i have tried using it, i combined the Garlic Extract to ginger para mas effective. hehe. but wala naman ich fish ko non just wanted to boost their stamina against ich. so i cant tell if its effective..
