Thanks to bro kenn and trowa for giving me ideas on my new prototype.
Credits also to my friend Jerome (critknight01) for helping me assemble the fixture.
Here is the beta version of my light setup, I still have to change the diodes to blue. This is the first part of the project, I will be adding two more rows of LEDs (6 diodes per row with 60 degree optics) in the months to come. Still undecided whether to use 1w or 3w bulbs.

1 18" long heatsink from a store in T. Alonzo - 225
1 30g tube of thermal paste - 100
1 7w downlight from CD-R King - 300
plus the two downlights I am currently using.
What I did:
Disassembled the downlights and transferred them to the new heatsink
The topmost fixture is the one I got from CD-R King. You know what's good about it? It's cheap, readily available, has individual detachable lens, plus one year warranty. That is, if you do not tamper it.
