Nano tank (reporting in after 5 years)

Hi everyone,

i'd like to share some images of my 30 gallon nano tank with Rics and some soft corals. This tank was rescued by advice from the reef philippines people around 7 years ago and has improved greatly since. The same clownfish that have been living here from the past 10 years are still doing fine and spawn often. I finally bit the bullet and added a scopas tang about a year ago and it has since helped greatly with algae control. since the scopas, there has been an explosion of pink and purple calcareous algae. there was a brief severe bleaching episode when my cooling fan died, but most of the livestock has recovered. Again, thanks to reef philippines. Hope you like it.

from the looks of it, i would assume that this is a sumpless set up, tama po ba?

yup. no sump. just an old reef octopus HOB skimmer and refugium. the pod population is huge. i hope to be able to add a mandarin sometime.

you can certainly add a mandarin kung booming pala population ng pods mo. one issue though, if i remember it correctly, yang mga calcareous algae limits the capabilities of the rocks as a substrate for bacteria because it covers the surface of the rocks intended for them...

What is your maintenance routine (water change schedule, dosing, etc.)? And your filtration, aside from the HOB skimmer?

Water changes 30% every 3 weeks to a month. using NSW. 2 additional power heads for circulation. clip on fan for cooling. sometimes add Kalk when i notice calcareous algae growth slows down. that's all.
