Walang nakapansin nito pero yung mga crushed corals mo sa baffles masamang idea yan, lalo kapag fully stocked na ang aquarium mo, within a month or two mapupuno yan ng detritus tapos magtataka ka kung bakit ayaw bumaba ng nitrates at phosphates mo.

Kung ang purpose nung crushed corals ay para sa copepod/amphipod production, lagay mo na lang sa sand area mo kung saan ka rin maglalagay ng macroalgae (kunsakali).

Re putting shrimps, you may or may not put them. Magsa-cycle yan either way. Kung maglalagay ka man, wag marami kasi mataas na ang nitrates mo (160 ppm of nitrates sobrang hirap pababain niyan kahit may ATS ka pa lalo kung nanggagaling sa bato mo yung nitrates... unless masipag ka mag WC at gagamit ka ng nitrate resin). Sasakit lang ulo mo sa pagpapababa niyan in the long run. Lalo na kung mataas rin ang phosphates mo naku, mag-mimistulang green meadows yung DT mo dahil sa turf algae. hehe.

Re your lights, NO T5s yan kung di ako nagkakamali sa pic. Sobrang inefficient niyan para sa lalim ng tank mo, lalo at wala pa yang reflectors. Maaaring mahirapan ka mag-reef.

Another thing, add your livestock - especially corals slowly. Kung naantay mo naman ng ilang weeks yung cycle, walang masama kung magantay ka pa ng konting panahon pa. Isipin mo na lang na makakatulong yang pagaantay.

LED DIY muna habang nag cycle. Added 15x 3 watts GU10 LED. Kulang pa LEDs, add pa ng 10 kapag may budget next time.

Thanks Seth, I will remove the crushed corals. I'm already slowly changing my T5s to LED, already installed 15x3 watts. Can I put corals na? Pwede ba mauna corals before fish? I'm on my 16th day of cycling, nitrates still at 160.

Is chaeto a macroalgae? San kaya pwede makabili? Wala pa laman refugium ko

Nice light setup. Kung ako dadagdagan ko na lang yung 3w GU10 leds mo tapos iiwan ko na yang T5s para maliwanag tignan yung tank. Yung blue T5s ang pwede mong gamitan ng timer para magkaroon ka ng dawn/dusk.

Chaetomorpha is a macroalgae. Dami namimigay na reefers, post ka lang dun sa macroalgae forum.

Maganda rin kung lalagyan mo ng cooling fans yung light setup mo, mas malakas ang light output ng T5s at LEDs kapag mas malamig sila.

Thanks Seth, I'm planning to add 10 more LEDs next month. I'm using 2 CDR King timers 1 for white and another for the blue lights.

My project for this weekend is to modify the hood so that I can fit 4x fans out as exhaust, 4 facing the bulbs. I'll send pics when I'm done

Okay, I'll play along. Suppose that app is accurate... 991 lux multiplied by 0.0135 (PPF factor for flourescent lamps) = 13.3785 μmol m-2 s-1. Barely enough even for low light cnidarians to thrive.

Apogee is the most common brand of PAR meter used by reefers for years.

Though of course, light is only a small part in maintaining the health of corals and other photosynthetic organisms.
