Im referring to the phosphate and carbon reactors. Can they be used without a sump? Im thinking of buying one for my sumpless 20gal.

Yes you may, usually reactors are hang on back ready hehe. The only downside is it will be an eyesore maybe not the reactors but the hose which are connected to it. Good luck!
