using mineral water ??

hi to all!
New from this hobby, I'm wondering can I use mineral water to my salt mix? Any suggestion, read that I can use ordinary tap water just have it leave for 3 days with aeration pump? Really need all the help I can get from you huys. Thanx in advance!

actually, I have the same question, kung pwede tap water from nawasa, provided that i aaerate lang. Masters, pano ba ginawa nyo kung mag sset up kayo tapos around 15G nano, with 20g sump? puro purified water yung buong 35g para sa salt mix?

The problem with using tap water is you would never know completely what's in it. Tap won't instantly kill or crash your tank. But there will be a huge possibility of metals and chemicals building up in your tank. Ang habol pa naman natin sa tank ay control sa parameters nito.

Kung mapapansin niyo walang specific values na nakalagay.

So kung mapapansin niyo, masyadong mataas yung maximum allowable values nila para sa purpose natin. Check the values on Nitrate, Nitrite and Copper.

May bonus trace pesticides and chemicals pa.

Aside from the usual nasties, if your house has old piping, you risk contaminating the water with heavy metals like lead and copper. Free copper ions will kill corals... even fishes at high amounts.

Should you use tapwater, at least have it prefiltered with a sediment filter inset and a carbon block.
